Pasta can be made from grain flours like wheat, rice flour or legumes like lentils and beans (gluten-free). Within these categories we distinguish between dried and fresh pasta. Due to quality reasons and regulations, we are only allowed to sell dried pasta through GourmetPlanet.
The next level of categorization are shapes, forms and length. Diverse dishes call for thicker types of pasta, if they include heavy sauces. The thinner types of pasta are often also used for desserts. There are 350 specific forms with 1.300 cataloged names (depending on regions, one single form can have 28 different names). Pasta is rich in carbohydrates and one of the oldest food forms in the World! The oldest found noodles were found in China and are 7.000 years old.
